An email sent misusing the SRA number of Parfitt Cresswell Limited purporting to be from a genuine individual working at the firm.
What is the scam?
The SRA has seen an email that has been sent from 'Jon Andrews' misusing the SRA number of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below) in relation to the status of a financial transfer.
Jon Andrews is a genuine individual who works at the genuine firm (see below)
The email was sent from the email address 'jandrews@copleyclark.co.uk'.
Any business or transaction through the email address mentioned above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Parfitt Cresswell Limited (SRA ID 8003996). The genuine firm uses the email domain @parfittcresswell.com.
The genuine firm Parfitt Cresswell Limited do employ a private client executive named Jon Andrews. The firm have confirmed Jon Andrews does not have any connection to the email referred to in the above alert.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Jonathan Andrews (SRA ID 640680).
The genuine Jonathan Andrews has confirmed that he does not have any connection to the email referred to in the above alert.
